OUR VISION
O'Connor Law Office, PLLC, was established in 1995,
and has been serving the residents of Michigan for over 30 years.​
​
Mr. O'Connor's vision for his practice is to help those in need
using his vast knowledge and experience as described below.
Mr. O'Connor has an extensive and impressive background involving
a myriad of life experiences that serve him well in his private practice.
He retired from the Michigan State Police as a Detective Sergeant in 2010,
as well as a Lieutenant Colonel from the United States Army Reserve in 2007.

Most recently, Mr. O'Connor served as the Eaton County District Court
Attorney Magistrate enhancing his skill sets, knowledge, and training
regarding court procedures and judicial operations.
Individuals needing legal counsel, guidance, and advice will be well served by
Mr. O'Connor's vast experiences not to mention his attention to detail, hard work,
and integrity when working together with his clients to ensure they are
provided with the best results possible for their given circumstances and situations.

Conveniently located in Central Michigan with the ability to travel throughout the State
as well as providing after hour and weekend services as necessitated by the needs of his clients.

Joseph M. O’Connor was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 1995. After successful careers in law enforcement, and the U.S. Army Reserves, Mr. O’Connor now practices law relying extensively on the experience garnished in his previous careers.
​
Mr. O’Connor brings a unique perspective to the practice of law through his knowledge base of criminal laws, including firearms, personal protection orders (PPO), felonies, misdemeanors, and traffic laws, as he was responsible for implementing the PPO policies for the Michigan State Police, as well as investigating criminal matters and numerous fatal/injury traffic accidents while assigned to the State Police Detroit Post.

Mr. O’Connor is well versed in Estate Planning Measures after handling the affairs of many clients, ensuring wishes and desires of the decedent are fulfilled upon his/her death through the proper use of documents including Wills, Trusts, and Powers of Attorney for Healthcare and Financial Matters.

Mr. O’Connor is knowledgeable about Foreclosure, Landlord/Tenant and Real Estate Matters having handled matters through the Appeals Process and drafting several types of documents including deeds on behalf of clients planning for life estates, marriages, divorces, and business arrangements.
​
There are times when relationships change and the need for a family law attorney arises. Mr. O'Connor is here to assist in these times of need, including separation, divorce, child custody/support, spousal support/alimony, and visitation plans.
Academically, Mr. O’Connor obtained his Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Detroit, and his undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice, with a minor in Sociology and Military Science (ROTC) from Eastern Michigan University. Mr. O’Connor has instructed courses in Paralegal Studies, Homeland Security, Criminal Justice, amongst other courses.
Mr. O’Connor is also a graduate of the United States Army Command and General Staff College and has taught ROTC courses at Michigan State University.
